Discrete Calculus.
We start at the Planck length.
Discalc is the research log of Astrohacker physicists and mathematicians. We study the laws of physics and mathematics. We start from one idea: the shortest distance is the Planck length.
The starting point
Space has a smallest step
If no distance is shorter than the Planck length, space is discrete. Then a derivative cannot use a step that goes to zero. It must use a step of one Planck length.
ℓP ≈ 1.616 × 10⁻³⁵ m
Δf(x) = f(x + ℓP) − f(x)
df/dx → Δf(x) / ℓPWe find which results of calculus stay true with this change, and which results change.
